salmon-125x1251Ellenborough Market Café, located at Swissotel Merchant Court, is the place to satisfy all your buffet needs. Although leaning towards the Asian fare, there is something for every palate.

With 4 separate counters laden with delicacies, be sure not to miss out any one. Help yourself to a generous serving of salad greens, before sampling from Chinese soups, Peranakan delights, Asian favourites, and Western and Nonya desserts. Popular dishes include the Broad Bean Fish, which is steamed and doused with salty bean paste, and the spicy Ayam Masak Merah. If you have a sweet tooth, you will also be thrilled by the variety of desserts available, from bread pudding to Kueh Dadang, and the much acclaimed Durian Pengat which comes in the form of silky mousse that slides down the throat.

You may, however, find that the service is a tad slow, due to the crowds often encountered at Ellenborough Market Café. Similarly, you may want to make reservations early to avoid disappointment. You can choose to dine alfresco, with a table that overlooks the Singapore River, or admire the rustic feel of olden Singapore that the restaurant’s interior allows.

Price wise, the Ellenborough Market Café buffet and high tea are relatively affordable. Lunch on weekdays (Mon – Fri) cost $29++ for adults and $19++ for children, while lunch on weekends and public holidays cost $31++ for adults. Dinner is pricier, costing $36++ for adults on weekdays (Mon – Thurs), and $38++ on weekends and public holidays. High tea buffet is only available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
